I'm new to the site and the 3rd gen scene. I scored this 89 convertible from a buddy of mine. Its been sitting for a 4 years but its in surprisingly good shape. The body is straight as can but the interior needs some work, but nothing too much. Here is where it gets interesting.

He stopped playing with it when he couldn't get it running again after a rebuilt engine. After getting it back to my shop and going over the car, I did alittle research.

The car is currently a 5.7l TPI , 5- speed manual, convertible Iroc. Now I found out that these did not exist. So I looked into the VIN and it shows as a 5.0 TBI, Auto Convertible. Now I can't even confirm if the Vin is the original because it looks like the rivets have been tampered.

I have a fun few days ahead of me. But I'm glad to be here.

Someone probably just swapped the engine and tranny. You couldn't get a 350 with a 5 speed, let alone a convertible. Since it does have a 350 the first thing I'd do is get sub-frame connectors since it's a vert chassis flex is a big issue.

Welcome to TGO btw
