Paint Oxidization Tutorial

I bought a passenger side mirror for my 1991 rs for 12 bucks. It came in the same color but someone sprayed primer all over it, and the paint underneath was oxidizing bad. I was going to repaint it but i used very fine steel wool. Brake cleaner to clean it off. And used a turtle wax solution that was from 1997! But it worked! Its not show quality but it looks very nice, plus my car was in the shop and it was a good DIY way to spend a day off! What do you guys think?
