Glueing on a Part, your input please?
I have an 84 camaro (in cases you haven't figured that out) and when i got it i saw the driver side mirror was gone, i later found out it was in the console...the mirror part. what is the best way of attacing it back to the side mirror? what type of glue workd best? I don't want to use elmer's and hit a bump and it fall off and shatter.

Epoxy JB weld, etc.... If it falls off you have 2 people to blame...LOL

If yoour really abal about doing it "correctly", go to a Body Shop supplier. There you will find overpriced but specific adhesives "designed" for this.

yea, i got some JB Weld and I don't know what happened to the epoxy glue.....its somewhere.

not to rude or nothin', but i'd rather do something like this myself. It doesn't take a professional to put on a little piece of reflective glass. I've completed harder tasks better than a professional. Once we had a car in the auto tech shop (high school) with an electrical problem, and the professional it was taken to before us couldn't locate the problem. two of our guys, me and someone else (cause we work in pairs on everything) figured it out. I can't remember what it was, but we got it. it was a toyota 4wd pickup. this was in September.....I think. Anyway, only people who don't know what they're doing, or who don't want to get their hands dirty take it to professionals. If someone can't figure something out, then they ask around. If they give up after failed attempt after failed attempt, then they take it to someone. But not for a little mirror application. LOL

I'd avoid using an epoxy or JBWeld on something like this. If the mirror glass ever breaks, you'll want to be able to remove the broken glass from the base. Double-sided molding tape would probably be your best bet. Not the generic crap from the office supplies section at Walmart, but actual 3M molding tape. It'll hold until you need it to come off.

I like windshield sealant like what they use to put front and rear glass in.

If it was originally held in with clear silicone, and I think some were, then you have to be sure to get all that old stuff off or anything else you put on won't stick.
And if you get both parts cleaned up real good and run past a auto glass shop they will probably glue it back on for free.
At least any glass shop with good customer service would do it for free.
