Need Help!

I found a 1985 Camaro for $500 sans the trans and engine. What areas should i look at closer than normal when i check out the car. Do Camaros have problem areas like a truck's cab corner? Also any other advice to help me would be very much appreciated.

Re: Need Help!

First off I would check the floor boards on the underside. If the owner will let you check them under the carpet also. Since there is no engine check the engine bay completely. Make sure you check around the firewall, strut towers and radiator core support. Also unless you plan on having bodywork done or can do it yourself, make sure they body isn't a bondo bucket. I am sure there are some other areas to look at but this is a start. Good luck and make sure to post some pics of your new Camaro if you buy her.

Re: Need Help!

If you plan on using any of the wiring be sure to check that. Look under the dash by on the drivers side and anywhere else you can see the main harness. People love to hack up the wiring on these cars for everything from adding stereo accesories to bypassing the VATS in the ignition system. Trying to figure out what someone else has done (who probably didn't know what they were doing) can be an nightmare.

I agree with what everyone else has said so far. Look right at the bottom back of the front fenders just in front of the rocker panels. It would be hard to hide any rust there. Also check where the spare tires goes in the truck passenger side.
