83 hood to a 91'

A while back I bought half an 83' Trans Am parts car and took the functional cowl hood. The cowl is worked by a solenoid, and all the wiring is there, the cowl parts are all there and it works great, but its on my 91 Firebird and obviously the other harness is not there to hook it up. Anyone attempted this conversion? Unfortunately I don't have the rest of the harness, only what is attached to the hood. So is there any resonable way to hook this hood up to a 91, or do I need to do a whole bunch of electrical work? The Trans Am was a 4bbl carb, my Firebird is TBI.

Are you sure the TA you got the hood from had a carb? Should have had Crossfire, unless someone swapped it (induction or the hood).

Getting it to work could be as easy as getting the correct body side electrics. Or you could wire it to a toggle switch. Hooking the air cleaner up you will need to probably do some fab work. I suppose you could find a factory Crossfire aircleaner setup and rework the bottom to fit the throttle body.

More then just the CFI Trans Ams had that hood. My 84 LG4 had the hood w/ the solenoid.

You just need to supply power to the solenoid as I recall, I think it's a single wire hookup. The question is when do you want it to turn on? You could rather easily set it up on a WOT switch... look to the nitrious guys for a WOT switch.

The TA was a 4bbl, I have the air cleaner from that car was well, so thats not an issue. I was debating hooking it up to a toggle switch, but first I wanted to see if there was a way to hook it up as it would have worked on the 83', when i rev it should open, and close at idle, so on the 83' I'm assuming it was somehow linked to the ECU..?
