87 Iroc hatch
87 Iroc hatch
I just got this car fixed up after my kid "dented" it about 3 years ago. When I got it back from the auto body and inspection station, the rear hatch motor doesn't work. I don't want to sound like an ***, but the fuse is in the fuse block, correct? I checked them and they all are fine, but it doesn't list "rear hatch" in the fuse directory. I can't get the hatch back to fully closed position. It latches , but I can't get it to seat (go down the additional 1"). Any other suggestions?

Try removing your hatch w-strip. Then see if your hatch will close. If it does check the alignment on the quarters. It may have separated. Have you replaced the lift supports lately?
Re: 87 Iroc hatch
I figured out the problem with the hatch not completely closing. On top of the hatch motor is a switch (relay). If you look down along the side, it comes out with a Phillips and then just pops out. I replaced that and it as good as new.
As far as the additional plug hanging down, I have that too. It seems to do nothing.
I also noticed that the hatch still works correctly even without the cube relay that is mounted on the back wall near the hatch. Why? I have no idea!
