1984 camaro T bar removal questions
Hello friends. My camaro is leaking through the t tops and I need to fix this. I have a brand new GM T bar, got it on ebay, still in the chevy packaging..never opened.($175.00) Also I have the t roof weatherstrip set(also genuine gm parts). Okay so I removed the screws from the t bar and am ready to remove it. It is held in place with a sealant and is tough to budge. Is there a secret to getting these off? Also I was wondering what is a recommended sealant to use when I put the new t bar in? Thanks for any tips and advice,

Re: 1984 camaro T bar removal questions
There are ten screws holding the bar in place, are you sure you've removed all of them ? If so, all you have to do is to pull it up, there's nothing else keeping it in place.
I'd use 3M butyl tape to seal it, I haven't used it personally since I can't find 3M products here, but it's often recommended for jobs like these.

Since you are replacing t-top bar and weatherstrip with new don't be afraid to just rip it off of there. For a slightly more delicate approach, you could use a heat gun to heat up the bar (or leave it in the sun for an hour) and use a large flat blade screw driver to pry it up from the sealant.

right on, thanks a ton for the responses guys. Yeah I am going to replace all the weatherstripping so it shouldn't be a big deal to remove it, forcibly if needed. I like the idea of letting the car sit in the sun for an hour. Thanks again,
