3rd gen. aluminum hood

3rd gen. aluminum hood

recently i bought an 1985 T/A for a parts car but it has what appears to be an aluminum formula style hood on it can anyone tell me what that might have come off of and how much its worth?

Just my $.02

Don't quote me on any of this, but from my research the aluminum hood was found on early thirdgens (82-84). Can't remember exactly which birds. Here's the part I remember very well; the aluminum hood weighs approx. 21.5 lb. and the steel hood weighs approx. 60 lb. Big difference huh? And yes they are worth some coin if there is a demand.

i heard that to but i also found something saying they were offered on on the firehawks that bodystyle which was 91,92 as part of a competition package so how do i tell ?

I don't have the answer for you but there are some very knowledgeable folks on here, so I'm sure you'll get an answer. The earlier hoods I would imagine are open at the back of the power bulge for the inlet flap that opened under full throttle. Don't think that would be on the later hood because they were fuel injected.

not all 82-83 hood where aluminum i have an 83 trans am power bulge hood on my car and its steel.
