weatherstripping channel adhesive/sealant question

I recently removed the black weatherstripping channels on the windshield posts during preparation for paint. does anyone know what type, if any, of sealant or adhesive to use when re-installing these. All of the threads I read had gobs of info on sealing the actual weatherstripping, but I could find nothing on re-installing these channels....Thanks for the help.

I've never taken stripping off other than door, t-top, & hatch.

Are you talking about the black strip that runs around the sides & top
of the windshield that is 1 piece? Sorry I didn't know if there's more stripping under that.
I thought there was windshield caulk // adheasive holding that all in.

There is a piece of black plastic trim that runs down the windshield support on the inside. If you remove it. there is a black metal channel underneath it that holds the forward end of the t-top seal where it contacts the door glass. This is the part I removed (5 screws and some sort of adhesive stuff)
