Completely stripped

Wow, it's been a long time since I posted here. I have a 91 Firebird with the interior completely gutted. It's been this way for a couple years now... I started college and didn't have any time to work on it. But now I'm done with school and ready to get started on this again.

So here's where I'm at right now. I have the floorpan (mostly) stripped of the paint and primer, down to the bare metal. Here's the next steps:

-POR-15 the floor and t-tops
-New seam sealer (what brand?)
-New weatherstripping all around
-Sound deaden-er
-New jute padding
-New Carpet
-4th gen dash from 96 Camaro (already have this wired and the AC box fitted)
-Replacement black panels (used to be gray)

ANYWAY... my question is: It's pretty much impossible to get rid of all the paint/primer off the floor in every little nook and cranny. Will the POR-15 still stick well enough if I omit those areas? From the pic you can see I've got near 95% of it gone.

Also, I'm not sure if I should put down new seam sealer before or after the POR-15. I've read some posts saying to put it down before, but I wouldn't think it would stick well ON TOP of the seam sealer?

Thanks guys!

Re: Completely stripped

If the paint/primer in those hard to reach areas, isn't peeling off and it is stuck good, then the POR 15 should stick over top of it with no problems. However, I have not used POR 15 before, so I could be wrong.

Yeah that stuff sticks really well. Did you dye your door panels? Got any pics?

I have some 4th gen door panels that I'm going to try to do something with. I haven't been too excited about the pictures of people shredding their doors for a mediocre fit. I'm thinking I'm going to use them as a base with some fiberglass.

Re: Completely stripped

I've just finished applying two good coats of POR15 on my floor, with another coat of zinc primer on top (mostly for looks but it will cover the little areas I could have forgotten). Really tough stuff, but don't sand the metal too much or it won't stick well. Follow the instructions. Also make sure the area, surface and brush are free of dirt, cause you'll get an ugly grainy surface otherwise.
I did not remove all the paint, it was too much work. If I had a sandblaster I would have stripped everything of course. Just remove all the flaking rust and paint you may have (the original paint on every spoltweld of the floor was flaking).
