Can you polish/wetsand matte paint?

so i ran outa money and decided to paint my camaro flat black, used some Tremclad (i think) flat black and did 2-3 coats , it looks cool but cannot get it to come out even. just the paint almost has a lil bit of powdery stuff that comes out and leaves a little bit of rougher spots in places and just doesnt look good in most light.

how do you guys think it would fair to a light polishing like a pretty fine one or possible some wet sanding?

thanks

Try it on a test panel if you have some paint leftover.

flat black is one of the toughest finish to achieve without experience, u need a very good controlled environment (spray booth, air pressure at the gun, preparation, etc) to have a nearly perfect finish, if u hit it with sand paper and polish it and use any kind of rubbing compound you will get shine out of it.

but i haven't tried the paint u use so do what 1piece@atime said try it and see what happens.... Good Luck

EDIT:
You could use fine steel wool to smooth it out but again its one of those ticks u gotta know how to use because they're learned along the years in the trade.

It's not just you. A bunch of folks are having a hard time with satin Black. Here are pics of a lexus LF-A. Over $400,000 if you could buy one.

It has those lines your talking about over the hood and roof. Even the factory prototypes have the problem your talking about.
Instead of tremclad you might try Deere Blitz black with a slow reducer in a warm environment. I've seen some good results with that...

Maybe satin clear over the top would lay down better and still give you the low gloss look you want.

yea i was actually thinking of trying that, i just wanted ot be able to get it done asap before the snow started falling as my garage is barely big enough for the car to fit let alone work on it. (and yes it snowed last night here in calgary....FML)

and damn that LFA looks awsome like that, definatly one of my favorite cars
