when i pull the hood release it is not doing an ything. Anyone know a way around this how to get the hood open?

 

Have you tried pushing down on the front of the hood after you pull the latch?

 

Also you could always do the fonzy punch. Thats what I always did that is untill I WD-40d all of the joints on the hood and the little mechanism that releases the hood.

 

Get under the car and look straight up the front of the radiator assembly. You'll see where the cable goes into the latch. Pull the end of the cable and its attached lever to the driver's side (right) and the hood will pop. I do that when I don't feel like screwing around with the driver's door to unlatch the hood. It's as simple as bend down and reach up. Unless it's rusted to crap like the one on my Grand Prix was, and then you'll have to fight with it.

Then, I'd replace the cable and handle... Of course, I'll be doing that anyways as my cable housing is broken.

 

You may have to hit it a little for it to pop up. It's a Chevy thing...
