Hood opinions

Has anyone here had a Hawks hood installed on their car? I have a 91 Trans am and I am looking at purchasing a Ram Air Hood 11 with the functional air box. Has anyone heard about these hoods or seen them installed? They look like one of the better ones and they also sell the air box to match which I have not seen from any other suppliers. I am concerned because the air box is one that is not usually seen on third gen trans ams. Any help? thanks.

Re: Hood opinions

Call Hawks. I bet they have some pics of the set up you're looking for. They're on the boards sometimes.

Re: Hood opinions

The air box you speak of is specific to their hoods, which is why you don't see it anywhere else.

And there are several TGO members with RA1 or RA2 hoods. I hope you are looking at the RA1 hod, not the RA2 hood. IMHO, the RA2 hood looks like crap on a 3rd gen & totally doesn't go with them. Only 2 of the 4 vents looks like it was really half-assed too.

Re: Hood opinions

We're working on our heat extractor hood - We should have some pics in the not too distant future of our progress. The idea is increasing efficiency by removing heat more effectively, as opposed to ramming a bit more air into the engine.
