How would you remove the door panel trim?

I'm talking about the annoying Firebird emblem and the black metal button thing that hide the bolts for the plastic around the door handle. I can't get anything to fit around them to pop them off except a tiny flathead but that has left ugly marks on the driver side. Interior trim tools in my box don't fit around the TINY gap around the outside of either the plastic bird square or the black circle.
