How do you remove door glass? HELP
Tried to remove the window from my 87 iroc door tonight, WOW what a pain in the a$$. I took all the tracks out and marked the position of the bolt heads on the door shell so i wouldnt change the position of the tracks. After i removed the tracks it still wouldnt come out, i tried to slide it off the top track but it wouldnt slide enough to one side to remove the wheel from the track, not even sure that is how you are supposed to do it. The remainig parts like the motor and scissor parts are not able to be removed they are riveted into the shell of the door, i hope it is not necessary that they need removed. I got discouraged and reassembled it and it worked fine. I am restoring the whole car and i thought it would be necessary to remove the windows so i dont overspray them, maybe i should just leave them in. Please help thanks

A rock works. LOL. Seriously though, I'd take the glass out and drill the rivots out and just get some new rivots.

Id just leave them in place you shouldn't have to remove them when you paint unless your painting were the interior panels go. Iv done door glass more then i want to know. the only tricky part with them is a bad motor on a power window car, I found manual windows to be simple especially at a yards, and taking the glass out with the tracks still riveted to the glass can be some what a pain in the *** with the plastic roller that sticks out. other then that it shouldn't take more then 10mins to pull the glass out on each side

Re: How do you remove door glass? HELP
What I did was to remove all of the tracks, push the front end of the window down into the door, and finagle the window enough to pull the rollers of the regulator off of the track (that the glass is attached to). Takes a little longer to finagle the glass track out the slot in the back of the door, but mine came out with the tracks attached.
Although, I'd probably lower mine halfway and get the rivets out of the glass track if I weren't going to work inside my doors like I am. PO already did that on the passenger's side .
