Anatomy of a Taillight

I apologize in advance for my longwindedness...........

A few days ago i pulled a Rear End from a 1994 Camaro in the junkyard. Since i don't have a truck, and my PT Cruiser is actually fairly nice inside, I decided that i would transport the Rear End in my Camaro (The interior is trashed anyhow). While putting it in there (I did have help), One of the Shocks punched a hole in my passenger side taillight (I didn't have a 7/8 Socket to remove the Shocks). The hole was in the Clear section and it would have probably been okay to drive it like that, but it just wouldn't do for me.

Today i went to the junkyard once more in search of taillights. I found a nice pair, but the most important one had a melted part on the side. Since it didn't interfere with operation and the rest of the lens was okay, i grabbed the pair. The junkyard here charges $18 per side. I showed them the melted part and got the pair for $30. In addition, the side i really needed had one of the studs broken off. I figured 4 out of 5 would be enough to hold it since the studs on the ends were in tact.

The lights went on fine and looked better than the original pair since they were starting to crack and fade from age. On my way to the Trash can with the old one, i noticed that the taillight had a detachable Lens. I figure you guys already knew this, but maybe someone like me didn't. What this means is that you can go to the junkyard and buy a taillight that has, say, a broken back part, but a good lens and combine your old one and the new one to make one good unit. When i have more time, i'm going to do that with the back part of my old lens. That way i'll have all 5 studs. Just thought you guys should know if you didn't. Here are some pics:

Here's a closeup of that taillight with the Melted spot from the back.
