I removed all mt t top wetherstriping and noticed some rust. On one or two spots I have a small hole it is on the front area that sorounds windshield. I was thinking of going over and filling them in with jb weld. Works???? I am not to keen on using bondo. I will treat it all with por 15 when done.

 

Bondo and JB weld......same circus, different tent. Bondo is fiberglass resin based, JB weld is epoxy based resin. Both harden after activation and can be sanded, drilled, painted etc. Not a great idea to fill an unknown leak with JB weld, especially around a glass window. Not pliable after hardened. Need to have a wide view of the damage before you can fully diagnose and repair it. If window is also leaking (my T-top FB had both T-top and window leaks), will need to pull window, fix the rust, and replace the window. Not cheap and impossible to do without breaking window. Have an auto glass expert do it for you.....better looking and functioning result.

 

The key to repairing rust is to get enough good metal exposed for
the repair material to adhere to. Then the problem is re-painting
the repaired area to match the existing paint. If this is not normally
exposed (under weather stripping?) the matching doesn't need to
be as critical.
