83 hatch wont latch

I can only find info on the electronic pull down style motors. I have no idea why it won't latch. It seems it is not pushing down far enough to trigger the latch shut... There is no pull down motor on my car, just a solenoid to unlock it.

There are three bolts that hold the latch onto the car, loosen them, slide the latch up a bit. and tighten them back up, and see if the striker will catch. If the striker is going into the latch and then just popping right back out, than you probably need to get another latch. If that is the case, I have a couple sitting around that I can send your way for a couple bucks..

Hey thanks for the advice and kind offer. I am going to try this tomorrow after work and let you know. The latch itself seems to be in working order (I can trigger i cut by pushing down and release it again) so I am going to check those bolts. I really appreciate the response!
