T-top strap brackets

What is the correct way to install the strap brackets behind the seats?
Do they go thru the carpet from underneath, or on top of the carpet?

I don't see a slit for them to poke thru, so I was wondering if they get mounted on top of the carpet.
Thanks for any help!!

Re: T-top strap brackets

They get mounted from above, your going to have to poke two holes in the carpet per bracket.
