Windows loose and rattle

1983 z28. Ok there is a similar thread about this i know but they do not explain much. I know very well the inside of my door and the glass. I know theres 2 metal adjustable brackets with felt on them, yes ive adjusted them however the window still rattles and if i keep the brackets snug against the glass its fine untill the window rolls up (power windows), the glass sticks outward, if i loosen the brackets the window sits fine rolled up but rattles and waves side to side even on the highway the wind sucking the window outward. triangles can only do so much. the outside rubber felt seal is new and put on and it has a gap in any case. is there something else that needs to push the glass inward because so far the brackets only help to push it outward. rolled up or down it still shimmies and shakes. the outside felt strip i have adjusted as far down as it will go to apply as much pressure as it can and no success to the fix. i notice the glass has tons of play when opening and shutting the door. doors shut, windows leaning against seals, door opens glass falls inward an inch. is it possible that the resting bracket holding the weight of the glass is loose or broke? i know these cars didnt have this problem when they were new.

Re: Windows loose and rattle

Hey, Silky, welcome to TGO. As you can imagine, there haven't been many questions on site that haven't been asked and answered, so a search is generally a good idea. Start with the following link, which may be generally helpful, but post #12 may provide the specific info you need.

Good luck luck on your project.

Re: Windows loose and rattle

Thanks but that does not answer anything im needing to know. Those tabs do control the window to sit inward or outward but there is nothing that controls how sloppy and flimsy the window is. i want it to be solid and not get sucked out while on the highway. i want to shut the door and not watch the glass bounce in and out let alone hear that crappy rattle. theres somethin else missing.
