Fog Lights

Just recently my fog lights stopped working out of the blue. I checked the fuse but couldn't tell if it was broken or not. The switch for the fog lights (right under the switch for the side marker/headlights, won't light up green when it's turned on. I'm not sure if the switch went bad but i had installed a new fog light about 2 months before. It's kind of difficult to drive at night without them because of the headlights not having much of a wide view. What should i do to get my fog lights working again?

Re: Fog Lights

I am by no means an electrical guru but I would first replace the fuse, I have seen several that look ok but are bad. Had three on the Firebird already. Next I would use a tester and check for power at the switch. Any wire hot should indicate power to the switch. If a hot wire then I would check to see if other wires become hot when switched on. If so then the switch is probably good. I would also check for continuity from switch to fog lights and fuse to switch. Some where in these checks the answer should start to show. If no continuity from switch to lights then probably a broken wire somewhere. If no continuity from fuse to switch then probably a broken wire there somewhere. If sure of which wire is which then jump a hot wire from battery to that wire at the switch and see if that fog light comes on. There may also be a relay in line which would negate the hot jumper wire check. If so find the relay and check from switch to relay and relay to the lights. I plain 12v test light and a continuity tester are needed or a multimeter and know how to use it. Maybe an extra length of wire to help checking.
