Door locks

I have a 91 firebird base. Both of my door locks work with the remote control, but if I use the key after using the remote control, the door will not unlock.
Any suggestions is appreciated.

Re: Door locks

You do know the remote control isnt original, right?
you are going to have to figure out what they wired up in there.

Re: Door locks

Yes, but i did not know that will affect the lock to be opened with the key.
So the wiring should be inside the door?

Re: Door locks

well, what I meant was theres no way of knowing. Maybe its part of an alarm set up? door poppers? crazy hack job?
it sounds like there might be a problem with the door lock solenoids somehow interfering physically with the connecting rods. maybe hooked up wierd with a door popper? possibly the lock solenoids staying engaged withe the lock cylinder?

Re: Door locks

yes, snoop around a little. maybe post a pic of the remote control and any receiver you can find to see if someone here knows what type of system it is.
you might want to remove the interior door panel to see if its just not connected right. Make sure you know how to properly remove the door panels without damaging them. There are some good threads on this forum about it. The door latch and lock mechanism are really simple on these cars, shouldnt be hard to figure out once you get a look at it.

Re: Door locks

I like the idea of the picture. The receivers can be in any location thru the car or are tehy usually on the interior door panel?
