I have a 86 IROC-Z and i am having a problem with my t-tops not unlocking. The whole car is original except the stereo system and the hood, and the key works on the doors, the trunk, and even the little compartments in the trunk. Thanks for any help

 

Your tops could have came off another car, if the keys wont open either one I would guess that's the problem?

 

I had to have a pair of new keys cut for mine since the one key I had was the original key and completely worn out. They couldn't hold it in the vise they use to hold the original key in the cutter since it is completely smooth on both sides (guess PO or someone had a REALLY BIG key chain and it got shaved). So, both of my "new" keys are screwed up. I have to wiggle and move them in and out of the locks until I find the right spot where the locks will engage. My Grand Prix's ignition lock did the same thing... Put the key in and back it out about 1/16" and then it would turn.

Just trying to say that you may need to wiggle and move the key around in the locks until they engage right and open.

 

New locks and keys are available for the T Tops.

 

And there super easy to put in too!

 

Thanks to everyone who helped. I have fixed the problem. Went to a locksmith and got it fixed for only $38. So excited to have the ability to take them off... too bad its raining
