My budget bird has finished!
Well after 1 and a half years of junk yarding and craigslisting I have done it. I am going to get pictures up ASAP but my camera needs recharging. Until then here is a list of what I bought and the price:
- Paint - $1200- Caberet Pearl Purple- ( I took it down to bare metal, the guy who painted it replaced all the old bondo and the window felt/trims)
- 4th gen power leather seats - $350
- New carpet - $115 ( Found on Ebay and included trunk piece )
- New T-Tops - $125 (Were fully restored by previous owner)
- New interior plastics - $25 (black and found all in a junk yard)
- New dash - $35 (junk yard and 100% perfect, not a scratch)
- New front fender - $120 (guy was a mechanic at a GM dealer and had a nose cone in the original box - NEVER placed on a bird til now
- 92 Formula spoiler - $100 - this was the hardest $%^&ing thing to find.... Found last week
- Headlight motors - $25 - Junk yard
- Door Panels - $56 for both ( I made these myself tonight. I have never touched a sewing machine in my life and I used Hardboard Composite from Lowe's ) I rolled and pleeted them
I paid $1700 for the Bird and invested $2151 over a year and a half and the car looks NEW! Thats about $120 a month at 18 months. My sig shows the bird when I first bought it.
This was my first project and I am curious on how I did - I will post Picts soon and if you want to know what shade of purple the bird is... well it looks like the grape skittle - Its black at night and Deep purple in the sun
