1992 Front Clip and ground FX on a 1983 base
1992 Front Clip and ground FX on a 1983 base
So I have officially given up on my 1992 RS project car. Started doing bodywork as it was 4 different colors when I picked it up, and am now calling it quits for this car. The underside is almost completely rotted out and half the metal on this thing is gone (honestly never seen a mid 80-s car so rusty, let alone a 1992) And have a question
I found an 83 camaro base not far from here for pretty cheap, only some minor surface rust that could make a good donor car (and pull the motor and tranny from my 92) But I want to know if the front clip and ground FX will fit on the 83. The clip was red like the doors so I actually think its an 85' like the doors said, but I know the side ground FX are the ones for the 92 and it appears from the pictures that the 83 doesn't really have any at all. If not will it take much for me to transfer this stuff to the 83?
Any help is appreciated, I want a decent camaro badly!
Thanks!

Lots of threads about this but here are some pointers.
The front end is a total bolt on.
The doors, rockers and quarters need some holes drilled and it wouldn't hurt to weld on the brackets that hold the skirts on the side under the door. Maybe you could get away with sheetmetal screws to hold the brackets.
'91-'92 Rear bumper has it's own honeycomb supports that will need to be switched but again not that hard.
Sounds like a fun project to me.

I can help you in two ways. First, I have a rust free '91Z28 roller for sale for $500 that you could swap all your '92 stuff directly too here....

If that doesn't help you out I can tell you that I'm in the same boat as you as far as switching gfx to a non-original gfx car as that's what I'm doing to my '84
If your gonna switch the whole front clip from the '92 it will bolt right up. The door gfx are gonna take some work. You will have to remove the door panels and the interior plastics to be able to get to the hidden bolt inside the sail panel beside the rear seat of the '92. You will also have to remove the rear plastics and tail lights to be able to remove the rear bumper cover and gfx extension. On the '83 you will have to remove all the interior just the same to be able to install everything on it. W/O it having factory gfx, you are gonna have to drill holes in the doors, rocker panels and rear quarters of the car to install. Then you have to figure out a way to support the door gfx. The factory support is a pain in the butt to remove, so I just made my own brackets, bolted them to the rockers in the locations of the factory screw holes for the gfx. All that being said, it would be MUCH easier for you to just buy my '91z
