91 Trans Am ground fx
I am buying a stock 91 Trans Am within the next several days and have a question about the ground fx. What would have to be done to the body if the skirt was removed around the sides of the car ? Are these pieces riveted or bolted on ? I had a 91 Formula several years ago and like the looks of the car better without the junk on the sides. I am wondering how much trouble it would be to make it look more like the Formula. I realize this is not a good idea for preserving the value but I don't intend to sell any more of my birds ever again.
Re: 91 Trans Am ground fx
The side skirts are bolted on. You will have to grind the mounting brackets off the rockers and fill the holes in the doors
Hardest part is locating non GFX front/rear bumpers. Ive seen low budget guys just whack the bottom few inches off the front bumpers and use early 3rd gen rear bumpers, but they never look right

Thanks - I thought it would be something like that. I'm thinking I could find a base firebird or salvage Formula to get the bumpers off of. I looked for a Formula but could not find a hardtop with a stick that was nice and in my price range but was able to find the T/A. Maybe the appearance will grow on me.
