Seperating the hatch from the glass?
Seperating the hatch from the glass?
I'm in the process of restoring my DD IROC-Z and ran into a problem with rust under the hatch.
I have a near rust-free hatch but it has the rear window defogger system on the glass and I don't want that.
I stripped one hatch down but the hatch panel does not want to seperate from the glass.
Any tips and tricks anyone can give me?Cant find this info in any search I've tryed.

There's a really tough black adhesive under there which also serves as weatherstripping. You'll need a long thin piece of metal (preferably with a sharp edge) that you can stick in there to cut through it. It takes patience and it's not easy. Be careful not to scratch up the glass while sliding the metal back and forth.
