Liquid Rubber for sealing T-Tops?
Ok so I am preparing to move out of state, and far from home, and to make my car ready for the trip I am having the tranny rebuild, all new tires, and new shocks (can't wait to have the work down). However this is going to leave me slightly broke, and my t-tops have began to slightly leak in one area. I located where the worn out piece of weather stripping is on the seal. And since I can't really afford all new weather stripping, or have time to replace, so I was wondering if I could use a liquid rubber like Flex Seal

to fix that one spot. What do you guys think? I know it is definitely not the best way to go about it, but given my situation I think it may just be crazy enough to work

not gonna work. if the weather strip is worn down and just doesnt make contact, you can lift it up in that spot and use a thick bead of weather strip adheasive underneath it to push it back up and seal. just let the adheasive dry before trying to put the top back on.

Re: Liquid Rubber for sealing T-Tops?
Years ago I ordered new seals for my Z28 from one of those shops in the Carolina's, and it had notches for a different style T-Top, well the paint & body shop didn't tell me about it "notches", and a couple of years later I moved to a place where I drove my car in the rain and it leaked bad. I bought "weather strip" sealant, it came out black from a tube. I built up enough of that stuff in the gaps to make a good seal, and I've been drip free for years now. I only recommend doing this if you really need to seal up the leak. I couldn't put my T-Tops on for about 24 hours, but after that it was all good. The stuff is really messy so I would tape off the area, and have a plan for pushing up the seal or knowing how much to add before it's too much if you're sealing up a hole. I can't wait to remove it when I repaint the car and drop my headliner to repair some wiring in the console (not really enthusiastic).
It actually is level with the seal and looks like the seal from a glance, which is all people see anyway when driving with the tops off.

I think that strip is hollow, if it is slice it with a razor (across not length wise) and slip some soft round weatherstrip from Lowes in there for a temp fix. It will hold that weak spot up for now.
