T-Top problem..need help

So the other day I was looking over my car and I noticed a rust spot on the front of my drivers side t-top. Come to find out, theres a hole there. I got rid of all the rust, and have repainted to slow down the process. But I want the fix the hole, what should I do?

Bondo?? Bad idea! Go buy some POR15 which will convert the rust into hard metal. It wont fix the hole that is already there but it will give you something to work with. The only real way to fix that hole is to weld in metal and then grind it smooth. THEN you could bondo any imperfections and primer and paint.

Fabricate your own patch panel, use new panel as template over old section. Mark outline with sharpie, cutoff wheel old section out. Apply weld through primer, tach weld in, the finish weld it in making sure to control heat. Remember welding burns/pitts glass, so cover it, as well as anything you dont want burned. Grind down weld, again controling heat. Apply filler, finish as desired.

yeah, bondo is bad. anything ive ever seen with bondo was crap. I no nothing about body work though and thats why I havnt tried to fix mine yet and thought i could cut the pieces i needed out of another body and weld it in mine......i need to just pay an expert to do it right. sounds like you know more than i about that subject so yoursshould be fine after you fix it...good luck!

Re: T-Top problem..need help

I was thinking of doing what camarotucker said. Will I have to cut the whole section out, what you can see in the pic and the structuring behind the hole or just the hole its self?
