Re: Anyone have a video featuring their third gen?
never idle anywhere. I was about 3 weeks ago pullin hole shots in the drive with it. but it is at the moment getting a auto swap done. i pulled the t-5 and sold it as a t-5 swap kit for $600.00 it was teh third swap kit i sold in one month that paid for the 91 z28 the 91 rs parts car and the auto to put back in the iroc so it was worth it to me to sell the t-5 swap kit.
I paid for the 91 z 500.00
i paid for the 91 rs 750.00
paid for distributor 100
paid for the ecu and battery 140
paid for plugs and wires 40
paid for extra Tpi and injectors 100.00
bought a 305 with t-5 for 500
seperated the t-5 and sold it as a swap kit for 600
bought 91 z28 wheels for 300 sold them for 350
bought brake pedal, shifter, shifter plate and th350 and th350 b&M adapter
I still have a bunch of parts to sell. including a 86 305 with 27000 miles on it out of a z28
I got tired of always paying for parts so i bought a few cars parted them out got what i needed and made my money back. I parted out the 91 rs but it was wrecked with no hope of fixing. easy way to support the hobby

And looks like you got one of the few good looking cowl hoods for these cars. Cervinis? Was it difficult to get the bbc to fit under that thing? And what are you doing for exhaust? got a build thread?

Re: Anyone have a video featuring their third gen?
no the son stopped there for a second then pulled awaythat was the second video. the cowl hood is a goodmark steel hood. the BBC was simple to put in honestly the headers were a different story i went the patriot route with them i bought the true dual exhaust from summit the custom made and cut it to fit the Big block so it is running a small true dual exhaust.

I've been kicking around the idea of a BBC swap for my next build in a couple of years. My T56 will bolt up to it, so it's not really a terrible idea except that I have a lowered/roadcourse/autox type of car... I kind of like the idea/challenge of a road racing BBC thirdgen (with a stock hood...), but Im not sure it's something I could pull off well.
Seems like once you get past that point of mild/medium 350, to go farther you have to spend a bunch of money. Big roller cams and $1500 aluminum heads and a bunch of fancy forged internals with expensive rods etc etc and then you have to spin it to 6500-7000 RPMs.
So at taht point, you think, might as well switch to an LS, but I've got an LT1 T56 that would bolt right up to a big block, and a 454 core really isn't very expensive and most of that factory stuff is good for a "mild" bbc build already, and a mild bbc will put the hurtin on most sbc's... , the main problem is the exhaust and hood clearance. I will not sacrifice ground clearance, and I dont want people to be able to tell it's a big block car. So stock hood, lower profile intake with a drop base air cleaner, crappy shorties with dual 3's into a y-pipe would be my plan. But that's a good ways out. Wont happen for years, but it's what I'm wanting to do.
Did you have to BFH the passenger side floor pan?

Re: Anyone have a video featuring their third gen?
your plan is kinda like my plan have the car look as stock as possible. honestly if it wasn't for the 4 inch cowl hood you would never know it has a big block unless you heard it !! with the patriot headers yea you have to hammer in the floorboard alittle it really not that much. and you would never know it unless you pulled the motor out. the area it the tunnel lip on the passenger side. if i went with a smaller intake you probably could fit it under a stock hood. I know in 86 gm made a z28 with at the time ther enew 454ho motor it had a/c stock trans stock hood you couldn't tell it had a big block at all but ran low 12's on gatorback tires the article stated if they would have put slicks on it it would have been in the 11's and that was with a/c. not sure what mag it was. but i only read hot rod and car craft so it was one of those.

Re: Anyone have a video featuring their third gen?
Watching snow fall, my trans am is now a silvery red because the snow is sticking. I'm collecting parts to get it running while we're still having bad weather. Then, when/if summer finally does come (it didn't last year, rained the WHOLE time), I'm going to spend a weekend or two putting everything into it at the same time. That's the plan, lol. I will probably put up a build thread later this summer to document everything going into it as I do it. Can't wait!
