How to: Replace key lock on doors

Im working on my 82 firebird, pretty much replacing door lock mehanism, acuator, handle, and key lock. The key lock is held in with a clip that i can't seem to pop off. And the little connecting rod is held on by clips too that i can't seem to pop off either. So what i need to know is, in what sequence should i start to fight with these clips? if anyone has changed them kinda give me a rough idea as to what i have to loosed to pop it all apart. thanks

the rod should pop off the clip and if I remember correctly, the clip that holds the lock in place should be able to be removed with a screwdiver and a good whack with a hammer
