Rust under the hood

Hi,

I have some nasty rust under the hood. It isn't really possible to treat it unless I remove the top section from the metal frame piece underneath. I was wondering is it possible to seperate the two sections. Is it difficult to do or do I need a body shop to do it.

Thanks.

Buy another hood, that's going to be to expensive to repair.

I have to agree - new hood.

I have the same problem on mine (funny how it's the ONLY rust anywhere on the car). I'm pinching pennies for a Cervini hood.

Can't do that, I live in Ireland and to ship something like that to here from the US is major bucks. Have to try and repair it somehow. If I could seperate the two sections I would have some chance of repairing it.

Looks like I am screwed.

it can be acid dipped to clean off the rust and all the paint. then clean it up and repaint it. it would be best to have it dipped in sealer or somthing afterwards if thats possible since it will be impossible to get paint between the layers and it will rust again.

separating it will be almost impossible without destroying it. At that point it would be easier to swim to the US, get a new hood, and swim it back, lol

Yes, that would be the best route to take. My have to swim to the US anyway as I am finding it hard to get body panels. Will have to do some welding.

Thanks.
