Damn it feels good to get some work done on this car! I bought this '91 shell that in much better shape than my current thirdgen, so I started repairing the rust damage this weekend.

looking good buddy... what gauge metal did you use?

 

22ga sheet metal. I measured the stock floor at .035". The 22ga metal I used was .030" Since I was only replacing a small section and not the entire floor, it worked very well. The next biggest size I could find was 16ga and that was way too thick. I've a good miller welder too which helped.

 

nice work man, wish i had a welder and could weld better than I do.

 

Welds are far from perfect, but butt-welds with a mig are some of the hardest. Need to seam-seal, and it's onto bodywork.

My entire car was shot, especially the rear shock towers, rockers and floors. Here's a pic of my car after sitting in storage for 2 years, patched some of the floor prior. lol, BTW I live in Newfoundland Hahaha Not many survivors out here
