Matching paint on new bumpers from accident

I was hit from the rear at a stop and pushed into the truck in front of me. The body shop told me that they may not be able to match the color on the new front and rear bumpers they are putting on my car. They wanted to try and get me to pay extra to strip the hood and fenders to fix the rock chips and then they would blend the paint into the hood and front fenders. I told them just to match the color to the car and that I wasn't going to pay them any extra, since the accident wasn't my fault. The paint code is 98 Bright Blue. Anyone heard of a reputable body shop not being able to match Chevy blue? My car is not faded and is always garaged, do you think that they were just trying to get some money out of me or what?

The front and rear bumpers never really match on our cars because the base material is different. Don't worry about it too much.

All of my bumpers always matched the rest of the car. The material doesn't make a difference if you use sealer first. That color should match well enough that if you don't tell anybody they won't notice. Whether or not YOU notice depends on just how accurately the paint was mixed. Often times metallic colors will will look good head on, but the side tones will be off, or vise versa, but it's usually not major.

Got my car back today and the color on the front and rear bumpers match perfectly! They even got the striping and decals right. The car looks better now than it did before the accident.Good to know that sometimes people can get it done right the first time around.
