Convertible Tops:

I have a 92 Conv. and recently my window broke in about 10 pieces. In calling shops regarding top replacement I am getting various prices, (some of these shops wont answer some of my questions) So, I want to purchase my top and bring it into them for install. Does anyone companies that sell tops online?

Thanks,
Aimee 92'RS Conv. 3.8

Check out www.gahh.com for your new top. They are located out of North Hollywood, CA. and the quality is as good as original. I ordered a new top for my car and installed it myself. The price was around $350.00 with shipping-much better than the $1000.00 or so I was being quoted here in the Sacramento area.

John Darragh, how was it to do the swap yourself...? Was it a PITA, or did you have any previous experience from such work...?

I seriously need to replace my top, but cant afford to have it done by somebody at the time.. it cost around $800 in this area. But, if I could possibly do it myself I might be able to do it...

Any input would be appreciated.

Ken

If the top itself is in good shape, an upholstery shop can sew in a new rear window for you. Otherwise, try these links: http://www.autostyles.com/cf8793.htm http://www.seatco.com/convertibles/c...et/camaro.html

Good luck, Lon

Replacing the top was an all day job that took some patience. I didn't have any prior experience, just determination that I could do the job myself and save hundreds of dollars. I followed the Chilton's manual top replacement procedures and everything was pretty straight forward. Compared with some of the mechanical work done on these boards, I would say that if you are not afraid to swap a camshaft or pull your trans. you should be able to do this yourself also.
