leaky (is it t-tops or windshield gasket?)

Ok, here is my latest problem...
When it rains, water drips into my car right at the top of the windshield at the headliner. The headliner gets wet, water drips, and water runs down the windshield. Does everybody think that this is water leaking through the dried out windshield gasket, or is it possibly coming thru from the t-top area. My car has the C&C t-tops where the seal is not at the edge of the glass. Appreciate any help.

You just redid your t tops right? why not seal the area around the windshield with the clear silicone and check to see if thats where the leak is comming from. My Rx7 has the windshield glued in ours are probably he same see if you cant remove to molding and reseal it directly around the windshield. I have cars and concepts t tops, same as yuors? I was told these are aftermarket installs as I have a 90 Formula 350 and they did not come from the factory. do you know more about this or the company. I've only had the car for 6 mo.

I have a 1985 IROC-Z which still has the original windsheild. The windsheild gasket on my car is also dried out, but it doesn't leak. Have you ever had the windsheild replaced? I have had problems with my T's leaking from almost the time I bought my car new in 85. I had my T-Top seals replaced in the early ninety's and they still leaked, even after numerous adjustments. I finally had to remove my headliner as it started to fall apart from getting wet over and over. The smallest pin holes can create the largest headaches. My guess is that your leak is from the T-Tops. Good luck.

I think that I will replace my windshield gasket just cause it is kind of ugly right now anyways. I don't know if it will help or not, but it should look better. I did replace all of my T-Top seals about a year ago, but don't think I have mentioned it on the boards before. It was kind of tough finding replacement seals. The new seals seem to have worked out ok. but it is kind of a hit or miss thing. Sometimes nothing leaks, sometimes it leaks a good bit. Just depends on how well everything is lines up. I don't really know much about the C&C t-tops, other than I think GM (or some dealers) sort of hired the job out to them.

As far as I know, my windshield has never been replaced. But I am the second owner, so who knows. Sorry this post kind of jumped around and rambled. I'll try some things and let you guys know if I fix it. And thanks for the suggestions

Mine leaked in the same place that you described. I took off the A-pillar plastic shield and examined all the mounting surfaces that I could to see if there was an imperfection. I used some clear silicone to fill in an area where my windshield gasket lifted off the windshield, that didn't really help. I then filled in some suspicious looking spaces between my T-top gasket and the car and that worked - no more leaks. Just take a real good look around, next time it rains, take the A-pillar covering off and see where the water is coming from (thats what I did and it helped), then pull into a covered area and examine the whole section, taking anything apart that you can (screws and whatnot) and start going nutso with the silicone. You'll get it.
