fuel slosh?

I have a 88 pontiac firebird that when the feul guage gets around a 1/4tank of gas under hard cornering it the engine stalls like you shut it off but after a second or two it is back to normal. At the drag strip i have no problems just under hard cornering.any ideas? does anyone else have this problem?

Yeah, happens to me too. Word is the 1LE option gave baffled gas tanks to help prevent this from happening, IIRC.

I'm pretty sure the TPI cars all got the baffled tank as well. I have a TBI tank in mine right now, and it hesitates when the fuel sloshes too. If you look at the price difference between the two tanks, the TPI one is a lot more, probably because of the baffling. I picked up a used TPI tank for mine for only $50. Just need to work up the ambition to change it out now!
