Cowl screen

Anyone got any tips to readhere the mesh iside the plastic cowl? I had mine stored away and for some reason one whole side of the mesh just fell out. And the other is starting too. I tried superglue, nothing. Liquid nails, no. Im thinking maybe a hot glue gun. The factory looks like they may habe slightly melted the surrounding plastic to hold the mesh. Im at a loss. Im so terrible when it comes to body restoration stuff it isnt funny, mechanical is another story.... Thank you anyone . Take care.

I would think these would be a dime a dozen and readily available at any junkyard...wouldn't be surprised if they were all the same from 1982-92. I'd go that route before trying to fix yours.

The original looked like it was melted in place. There is probably not a good way to fix it. There should be plenty of them around.

I think the material is a polyolefin which doesn't like to be glued without some type of special primer or activator. An actual hot melt would work but not a hot glue gun. Best bet is to just pick up another one.

Use 3M Super Weatherstip adhesive part number 8001, works like a charm

I hate to say it but they're different, at least they are between 85
Sport Coupe and a 92 RS. So 82-86 base models, at least are different from 86--92 IROCs and Z28/RSs.

I was going to buy one from thirdgen ranch but it doesnt list the year just 82-92. I may rry that 3m stuff. Autozone or advanced have it? It needs to harden and dry instantly it seems as the mesh is tought a little ans will pull away from the edges. I cant believe this i just pulled my buddies monte 350 swapped the cam, and im like i have two left hands when it comes to anything like paint or resto stuff. Its a ioke. Thanks though for the responses. Did the search there is nothing on the subject incredibly, as these things are so delicate.

I had the screen on mine sagging at the high spots, I used a hot glue gun to readhere it, and so far it's working okay. Granted, it hasn't seen much in the way of real weather, just 65 in the garage and a couple of 90+ days out in the sun, but it hasn't failed yet lol

Well the hot glue gun worked like a charm. Definatly the way to go. Little messy but you dont see it anyway. Held it well. Thanks

just yesterday i had mine off . used a hot glue gun on the screen . seemed to work very well , time will tell . also took time to clean & spray paint cavity under screen . i also took time to re-paint entire cowl shelf flat black . WOW , what a difference . take time to really clean surfaces well before glue/paint . worked well for me , i'm happy . good luck .
