Hood Wont Open

I recently went out to check my oil and got an unpleasant suprise...the hood would not open on my 89 Formula. I cant remember where I saw this topic recently so any help on how to get it open and keep it opening is appreciated.

This may sound very untechnical but this happens from time to time with me. What I do is pull the hood release then go to about where the hood latches in the front and hit it a few times firmly (but not too hard to damage the hood or paint) It usually pops up. After its up WD-40 the hood latch and maye clean it!! The release mechinisim gets sticky sometimes. If this doesn't work you can get under the car and pull the release manually and it will pop up.

i had the same problem on my 89 iroc. tapping the hood wouldn't work either. i then added an extra spring under the hood next to the original spring and it fixed the problem. all it took to open the hood after pulling the release was a slight tap on the middle.

wow, this is my first post here, but a long time visitor.

I have the same problem too, all I do though, is grab the hood right in front of the front light, and give it a good yank. It just about always comes up, if it doesn't, I push the hood back down, so it latches, and then I pull the hood release again..
