Hatch Glass Hinges. Has anyone hade them custom made?

Im aware that the hinges are very fragile and tend to bend under pressure and time. But has anyone ever made any custom hinges or used any steel hinges? If I had machining skills and or the equipment, i would of made some by now.

Why would you want one off hinges? the stock ones work just fine...

Why would I want one off henges? Doesn't make any sense. But to get straight to the point, my original ones are bent which allows my rear hatch to stick out about half an inch passed the rear end corner spoilers.

Plus I hear that they are aluminum. Too soft of a metal. I'd prefer steel.

Flick the henge with your finger. If the sound is dull, it's aluminum. If the sound has a sharp thud, then it's steel or iron. Better yet, get a magnet and test it that way.

I wouldn't invest much in new replacement aluminums that are guaranteed to bend. We need some steel upgrades. Those would be worth at least $50 / pair, shipped.

That's what I said too. Aluminums isn't in my Christmas list. There's gotta be someone out there with custom made hinges.

Your hinges may be bad but there is another more common reason that deck lids work their way out past the quarter panels.

I'm fully aware of the causes and remedies. I have a 1000 page 82-92 Camaro general manual, an 86 GM Camaro manual, and of course the link on the homepage that explains the repair. So with that said, my lower glass does sit inside the cupped groove in the deck lid. So since my rear deck hasn't slid back, the problem is the hinges, which are moved as far up as possible within the Camaros body.

I guess you have to be more than book smart to understand this statement.
