Check to see if there's a gap between your wraparound spoiler and the hatch. If there is you have to get it tightened and put a bit of non stick silicone around the inside of the edges before you tighten. If thats not the case, how's your weatherstripping?

Hop in the back seat with a flashlight and have someone hose the car. Remember to tell them to replicate rain not a fire hose. Don't waste effort fixing things that may not be broke. Find it first.

I'm also having this problem as well, which causes another problem beacuse I wanted to put in my subwoofer box soon, but now I gotta get this fixed first or ill have a rotted box and some wet subs.. its wierd beacuse it only seems to be in the bottom of the well towards the passenger side (unless it rains forever) and the whole rest of the interior is completely dry.. there is however a space in the weatherstriping right in the middle directly in front of the hatch motor, i have to check that out, but other than that I dont have a clue in the world how water is getting in but not wetting the rest of the interior..

Slayer I have some 1/2 good news for you, I have this same problem, and I have a box that slides down the rear well down to where its not as wide anymore, whatever water comes in at a point low enough that it hasnt effected my box or subs AT ALL, or it just drips down the box fast enough and the box dries fast enough that it does not hurt it. Hope I helped.

Replace the latch with a pre 86(No power pull down) one, see what it does.

Well, I used some bath tub sealer stuff and filled in the gap btwn the glass and the metal and it didn't leak when it rained the other day, but it never did leak consistently, just some times after it rained i would have a pond and other times i would't so I guess i'll just have to wait and see to be sure.

I had the same problem. I was told by a fellow third-genner to use the same stuff they use to seal windsheilds, I think it was called Byutle? That may be spelled wrong? I took off the rear deck and layed strips of it down the length, and a bit down each side. The stuff is a PITA to work with, but it worked.
