Both headlights stuck down.

Not sure if this is the right board for this... But.

My headlights are stuck down, I hear the motors running, but no movement, the manual cranks don't do anything either. The car has been sitting for a year or so, I don't think I've ever seen them raise.

Bushings? Gears? Any advice to give a young man in need?

Thanks, Niko.

Re: Both headlights stuck down.

It sounds like the bushings inside are toast. Try manually cranking them up while also gently lifting up on the headlight from the front edge.

open them up. The plastic 'disks' inside are probably toast. You can rebuild stuff from topdown-solutions for example.

Mine are the same way and I got the kit from top down, but have not fixed them yet. I bet if you hit the switch and have someone pull up on them they will come up, but might not stay up-that's how mine are. Well mine will stay up but hit a good bump and at least one will slam down. The little bushing are gone. A great design there GM.

Re: Both headlights stuck down.

I fixed both of the cylindrical bushings from top down solutions years ago. Fantastic instructions and eliminated the dump toms you had both mentioned.

Re: Both headlights stuck down.

Had the same problem too. My bushing were crumbled pieces of plastic. I ordered one of mine from somewhere else but they work just the same. Found them on amazon or ebay can't remember. Either place you will want to do some research on the company selling them before you buy them. I have heard some bad things about some of those places. The other set I ordered from top down solutions a little bit more pricey but you will get a product that you can be sure of and will last a long time.
