Hey guys and gals, I have a 89 firebird and she has rust everywhere under the body. I am sure the frame is rusted in the back also. I came to conclusion that it feels like my only option is scrap her and get a roller for a few hundred. Any thoughts or ideas? I'll post pictures tomorrow because it's raining today

if the car is really bad, these is no point trying to fix it. It will cost a fortune and a lot of the replacement sheet metal is not available. You can always find solid rollers or cars with trashed drivetrains to swap to.
If it comes to it, save what you can parts wise, and scrap whats left of the shell. People are always looking for good parts and even doner patch panels to save cars that still have a chance.

Well what did we find under your rug?
Rusted pans and the shell has rust. The back frame is rusted. I took the 327 and t400 out today and I am getting a 2000 firebird shell Friday

Are you planning on putting that 327 into a 4th gen fbody? If so then you better figure out how you are going to get to the distributor since it will be under the windshield now.
I will cut out a little bit. Should the engine mounts still be good tho?

cut what out, the center section of the cowl panel??? How do you plan on removing said distributor if it ever needs to be replaced? If you are running a carb you will also have to figure out how the air cleaner is going to fit.Originally Posted by Electro Panda

It has been done but I just hope you are prepared to modify the car a bit to get it fit right.
You will need to buy LT1 style headers now as well. stock 4th gen engine mounts should work but just check first.
