4th gen seat belts in a 3rd gen

I am currently changing my interior to a black/charcole interior. my seat belts are now light gray and I can not find any black or charcole 3rd gen seat belts but see them in alot of 4th gens. can I have 4th gen belts in?? or would I have to have mine dyed and where could I get that done??

I think it can be done, I replaced my seats on my 91 firebird, and got new 4th gen belts with them. Unfortunately getting the torx bolt off of the assembly on the floor proved impossible for me, so I gave up and left the grey belts on there. Also, the bolt goes straight down, I went and looked at how it was on my '00 camaro and it looks as if it goes in at an angle. Not sure if it'd work or not, and if you replace the seat belts with 4th gen ones, the old seat belt buckles wont work anymore, and the buckles are expenisve to replace new, maybe you can find them cheaper used. If any of this is wrong, my apologies, feel free to correct me. Good luck.

try this place... www.ssnake-oyl.com They have an e-mail for questions and a phone # you can call, too. They say they can dye your stuff, as long as you provide the parts (duh). I need my seatbelt receivers dyed, but right now I'm still waiting for them to tell me how much it'll be and the turn-around time. They're slow to respond to the e-mail questions...

As for getting your seatbelts out, I tried the torx bit also, and failed with that attempt so next I used a HEX tip that fit and it came right out, without stripping the torx head out...

Don't mess with dye on belts, it doesn't work. Better to dye the plastic receiver bit and have the webbing replaced by a place like the site above, which is simple for them to do and should not cost much. Plus, the new fabric will make them look like new.
