For those who argue against 4th gen center console in a 3rd gen...
I know alot of people have been claiming that there were problems getting a 4th generation console to fit in a 3rd gen firebird.

Here is one such setup. Talking with the owner of the car I found out that there was really no problems at all. Just make sure you get a manual trans version to allow for any spacing problems with the automatic shifter and avoid the shift linkage clearance problem. Other than that, cut off the little pocket at the front of the console and it essentially bolts right in from there.
I'm planning on doing this same thing in the next few weeks because I personally think that it is a nicer console.
Just my $.02

Man it's funny you mention this , I'm searching for a used 97-up console right now
That pic answered 1 question I had ...the front of the console appears to be the same width as the radio/climate control portion of the 3rd gen console . I will be trying this in a Camaro though which means I will have to cut the Camaro console to retain the mounting for the radio/climate controls . I really think it will work . It's gonna be tricky finishing it off though .

Ive got a 4th gen manual (6speed) console in my 88formula. No problems whatsoever on fitment. However, you do have to relocate your power window switches. 4th gens have the switches on the door.
