Window guide replacement - or not?

My windows rattle, the window on the drivers side won't seal properly (wind noise at the very front on the A-pillar) and the doors don't shut properly. Also, on each window at the very top are little "holes" that have benn worn through the tint, with little track marks down the length of the window, top to bottom.

I know that the felt has worn off the window guides, hence the tint being worn, but GM wants $25 a pop! I am not thrilled with the idea of spending $100, so I thought I might strip the felt off and replace it myself. Has anyone done this? If so, was there a particular felt you used, and most important what type of glue was used?

I am hoping that by fixing these and adjusting them properly that all my window woes will go away. Is that optimistic or what??!

Thanks

Seems to me you could get those window guides from a bone yard... If not, there's a type of weather stripping (self adhesive) that would probably work rather well. It's the "pile" type (that's what it's called). I actually used it on the vertical window tracks in my doors, since the rubber inserts were missing for some odd reason... You should be able to get that at any hardware or home improvement store...

The dealer wants $25.00 a piece?! I'd say buy them. Its costing me $80 bucks for the inner sweeps and $50 for the outer ones. And thats for each piece. $25 a piece is pretty decent considering its GM and it should last another 10+ years or so. JMO

No, I am not talking about the sweeps (the long pieces that run the length of the door at the top) - I am talking about the steel guides on the top of the door. There are two of them on each door, on the inside of the glass at the top of the door - they basically right-angle steel brackets with felt on them that guide the window for in-out movement. The felt is toast and I was just wondering if anyone had ever stripped the factory stuff off and put on their own replacement felt. These brackets with felt are $25 from GM.
