Color-change white guages
How do they work? A good example of what I want to make is the thread 'flame guages' down below. I want to make my own white-faced guages that illuminate a pattern at night. Is it just the bulb, the design, or a special paint that can't be seen in daylight?
As far as I can tell, there is no "trick" to making them. Any ordinary white faced guage looks quite different when viewed at night with only backlighting. It depends on 1) Color of guage material 2) opacity of the material 3) strength of light from bulbs and 4) color of light from bulbs. From what I've seen, the flame guage picture has a strong blue bulb with fairly opaque guage material. That is all I know.
