T-Top Weather Stripping Problem

Hey guys, I'm replacing the weather stripping on my 1990 Formula and I can't figure out how to get that center bar off the car to clean it. I'm talking about the piece that has 2 channels on both sides and sticks up the furthest. If you are putting in the T-Tops this is the middle piece that the glass lip of the T-Top slides under. How do I remove this piece to clean it? It stands up even with the body, it's black and metal. If you need I can get a picture to show the piece, but I think you guys will know what I am talking about.

Re: T-Top Weather Stripping Problem

he just ends up drilling out the screws due to corrosion, however I had the screws out and it seemed like the center pillar was stuck down to the car even after removing all screws. Does anyone else have any advice on this?

Their is double sided tape also under there, used as a gasket.just make sure you have ALL the screws out.Maybe a little heat will help.

Re: T-Top Weather Stripping Problem

that is kind of what I figured, I'll put a heat gun to it.

Do you guys know if I can put the weather stripping on during this type of temps, high in the mid 60s? Or do I need to wait until it gets warmer to put the new weather stripping in?

Re: T-Top Weather Stripping Problem

I would guess you could, but warmer would be better. If you have to install it now,I would leave the car out in the sun if you don't have access to a garage you could heat up.

Re: T-Top Weather Stripping Problem

I should pop off with some persuasion. I pried mine off with a pry bar. But I had to get a new one because it was corroded. But it came off without bending or damage.

Re: T-Top Weather Stripping Problem

What adhesive removers do yall recommend? A lot of people say 3M Adhesive Remover, but that basically looks like Goo Gone. Is there something better I can buy?

Re: T-Top Weather Stripping Problem

That 3M Adhesive remover works like a champ. Like insanely good. Be careful with the overspray.
