TRUNK LATCH STUCK -MOTOR SPINS - HELP!!!!!

WENT TO CLOSE MY TRUNK, MECHANISM NEVER RETURNED TO THE UP POSITION. LATCH MOTOR SEEMS LIKE IT IS STUCK IN ON POSITION BECAUSE I CAN HEAR IT SPINNING BUT IT IS NOT RAISING MECHANISM. WENT TO JUNK YARD- NO SUCESS. NOW I CAN'T LOCK MY TRUNK. HELP PLEASE!!! DO I REPLACE THE MOTOR, THE MECHANISM OR BOTH.

gear nut stripped out...GM has them still...anywhere from 3-8 bucks...depends on where you're at.
