NEED T-TOP HELP, PLEASE!!!!!
NEED T-TOP HELP, PLEASE!!!!!
Hello, I have a 92 Z28 with T-tops with the pin-type lever. The T-tops are plastic and very scrached up and i bought a pair of glass t-tops today from a friend, but the lever type is the hook type, is there a way for me to make these work? I was thinking i might be able to change the mechanism from the orignials to the glass ones, it looks as if they are siliconed on or something? How are they attached from the factory and is it possible to swap the original level mechanism to the glass tops? TIA
Well your buddy must have an 82, I think they where the only year they used the hook type tops , I dont think you can switch the levers , If I remeber they are bonded to the glass, i would go to A BONE YARD , Ttops that came on yours ahave a slightly larger pin the older cars use a smaller one , im allmost positive you can switch the pins.

My 83 also has the hook type.
The hooks grab onto a little bracket that just screws onto the car. Take off the trim piece, and see if your pin type setup has the same detachable brackets. If so, they're all you need, except maybe the trim if the hole in it is different.

Thanks a lot guys, i was thinking that i might be able to just change the a-pillar and the rear piece of the T-top mount to make them work, i guess its off to the local pick-a-part to find some, should be TOOOOO hard, if i am correct, the hook type was used on the 82-84's and there are plenty of those lying around in the graveyards. I have to also change my A-pillar Gauge pod so it will be a little longer than a simple swap, oh well, as long as they work....thanks. If not, i guess then i will re-sale these and try and find some glass ones with the pins, i dont like the 91-92's they are all plastic, am i correct??
